Analysis: Castro hit .253 with three homers and 13 RBIs in 26 games this season with New York. Castro was made expendable by the play of rookie Omir Santos, who drove in both runs in the Mets' 2-1 victory over the Florida Marlins in 11 innings on Friday night. The Mets receive Lance Broadway in return.

Analysis: Castro struck out swinging in the sixth inning and did not come out to catch the seventh. He was replaced by Omir Santos. Santos has been serving as the Mets' second catcher since starter Brian Schneider went to the disabled list on April 17 with a strained back.
